SEC Marketing Group Announces John Mackey as Development Team Lead

“I’m very excited to be starting my new chapter at SEC Marketing Group. I bring with me years of experience in Web Development. I like to bring a team mentality to my work, not only for the company I work for, but for all the clients and end users who depend on high quality website development. There’s also no better feeling for me than to treat something as a craft, paying attention to the details, engaging with it like a user would, and producing quality work at a solid pace. As a user, I want something functional, beautifully designed, and seamless, and that’s what I try to create.

One of the things that really drew me to this job was Eric’s clear passion for wanting to do good work for companies, to treat them fairly, and to make good experiences for users. I share that passion, and I always want to leave a customer feeling like they got a great experience and like they come away with even better results than what they hoped for.

When I’m off the clock, I love to accumulate hobbies in different areas like art and plant keeping. I like to think of myself as being a continually self motivated learner. I think one of the coolest aspects of technology is taking something that looks like magic when you’re younger, and slowly but surely figuring out the magic tricks behind the scenes. The magic still stays, but rather than a web of confusion, it’s respect for a large and growing pool of talented people who built software before me.

Before SEC Marketing, I’ve worked most recently at an Educational Makerspace, a Sweepstakes and Giveaways Marketing Agency, and a WordPress Design and Development agency after graduating with an Associates Degree from North Shore Community College.

Guildhall was an Educational Makerspace where I wore a lot of hats. I was there the day that the CEO David Martelli got the keys to the space. I worked on anything I could, from painting walls and wall murals, to building out their webflow website, to building door control systems with python, to teaching kids coding, sculpting, design, electric engineering and woodworking.

At Promosis, I quickly stepped up into building vanilla PHP based websites, working with large companies to help them make beautiful and functional form entries for giveaways. Working safely with client data and building bespoke platforms was daily work.

At Beyond the Brand Media, I worked with a catalog of dozens of WordPress eCommerce sites, ensuring that clients had excellent care for their sites, that they felt supported, that their sites were safe and well maintained, and that regular care was given to content additions, page additions, and anything else that was required. “
