Welcome to the operational heart of SEC Marketing Group. While our Work Logs track our client wins, Gusto tracks your wins, your pay, your benefits, and your requested times off.
Consider Gusto your personal administrative command center. To keep our team running like a well-oiled machine, every member is required to maintain an active and updated Gusto profile.
1. Onboarding & Personal Data
Before you can start over-delivering for our 15+ clients, we need to make sure the “back office” is set.
- Initial Setup: You will receive an invitation link via Email. Complete your profile immediately.
- Address & Banking: If you move or change banks, update Gusto immediately. We cannot “fix” a direct deposit that went to a closed account because of outdated info.
- Tax Documents: Your W-4s, 1099s, or I-9s are all handled digitally here. No paper, no scanning, no “lost in the mail” excuses.
2. Getting Paid: Direct Deposit & Paystubs
We believe in transparency and punctuality. Gusto ensures you never have to wonder when or how you’re getting paid.
- Direct Deposit: You can split your paycheck across multiple accounts (e.g., 80% to checking, 20% to savings) directly in the “Settings” tab.
- Paystubs: Every payday, Gusto will email you a summary. You can log in anytime to download full PDF breakdowns for your records or loan applications.
- Lifetime Access: Even if you eventually move on from SEC (though we hope you’re here for the journey to 50 clients!), you retain access to your Gusto account for future tax seasons.
3. Time Off & Sick Days: The Protocol
To maintain our “Extra Mile” standard, we need you at 100% capacity. This means taking time to recharge and staying home when you’re unwell.
Requesting Time Off (Vacation/Personal)
- Lead Time: For planned time off, please submit your request in Gusto at least two weeks in advance.
- The Process: Log in -> Time Off -> Request Time Off.
- Sync: Once approved in Gusto, ensure your out-of-office is noted in relevant Work Logs so your teammates know who is covering your client tasks.
Sick Days (Emergency/Unplanned)
- The Text: Send a Text (our High-Severity channel) to your lead as soon as you know you can’t make it.
- The Log: Once you are feeling up to it, log the hours in Gusto as “Sick Time” to keep our records accurate.
4. Security & The Gusto App
Because Gusto holds your SSN and banking details, security is paramount.
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): This is mandatory. You must enable 2FA on your Gusto account.
- The Mobile App: We highly recommend downloading the Gusto Wallet app. It allows you to check your pay and request time off from your phone in seconds.
Why Gusto Matters for SEC Scaling
As we scale to 50+ clients, we can’t spend time manually tracking hours or hunting down tax forms. Gusto automates the “boring stuff” so we can focus on the “high-impact stuff,” moving our clients to Page 1.
Note: If you experience any technical glitches with Gusto (e.g., locked account), follow the Problem Escalation protocol: Check their help docs first, then email your lead if the issue persists.
