As we scale toward 50 clients, the last thing we want is for your progress to be sidelined by a broken keyboard, a missing software seat, or a gap in your SEO knowledge. At SEC Marketing Group, we don’t want you fighting your tools; we want you using them to win.
If you are stuck, don’t “tough it out” and under-deliver. Use this escalation guide to get what you need to stay in the “Extra Mile” lane.
1. Equipment & Software Requests
Your workstation is your cockpit. If your hardware is lagging or you lack the specific software required to execute a high-level audit, we need to know.
- The Criteria: Ask yourself, “Will this purchase save me time, improve client results, or help us scale toward 50 clients?” If the answer is yes, it’s an investment, not an expense.
- The Process:
- Research: Find the specific item or software tier you need.
- Context: Prepare a one-sentence explanation of how it helps a specific client or internal process.
- Email: Send the request to your lead with the subject line:
EQUIPMENT REQUEST: [Item Name].
2. Supplies & Subscriptions
Need a specific API credit for a tool? A subscription to a niche industry publication? A new headset for Google Meets?
- Standard Supplies: For recurring needs (like SEO tool seats), check the Master Tool List in the internal drive first to see if we already have an open seat.
- New Supplies: Email your request. Do not purchase anything on a personal card expecting reimbursement without prior written approval via email.
3. Training & Professional Development
SEO evolves every week. If you encounter a task (e.g., advanced Schema markup, Core Web Vitals optimization) that you don’t feel 100% confident in, do not guess.
“It is better to ask for 10 minutes of training than to spend 10 hours fixing a mistake in the Work Log.”
When to ask for training:
- You’ve checked this Learning Center and the answer isn’t here.
- A client has a technical stack (e.g., a custom headless CMS) you’ve never seen.
- You want to master a new skill that will make you more valuable to the firm.
How to escalate a training need:
- The “15-Minute” Rule: Spend 15 minutes trying to find the answer in our internal documentation or reputable SEO sources (Search Engine Land, Backlinko, etc.).
- The Nudge: If you’re still stuck, Text your lead: “Hey, I’m hitting a wall on [Topic]. Do we have a SOP for this, or can we hop on a 5-minute Meet?”
- The Deep Dive: For major skill gaps, Email a request for a formal training session or an external course/certification you’d like the company to sponsor.
The Escalation Mindset: “Solution-First”
When you bring a problem to a lead, try to bring a suggested solution with it.
| ❌ What NOT to do | ✅ What TO do |
| “My laptop is slow and I can’t work.” | “My laptop is lagging during Google Meets. I’ve researched a RAM upgrades and want to know if upgrading my laptop can fix it.” |
| “I don’t know how to do this backlink audit.” | “I’m new to this type of audit. Is there a recorded Meet or a Work Log entry I can study to learn the SEC way?” |
| “We need more Ahrefs credits.” | “We are at 90% capacity on Ahrefs credits for [Client]. Can we clear old projects or upgrade the tier?” |
Why This Matters
We are a high-performance team. High performance requires high-quality fuel. By escalating your needs quickly and professionally, you ensure that our 15+ clients get the version of you that is focused, equipped, and ready to over-deliver.
