Trust is the hardest thing to earn in the SEO industry and the easiest thing to lose. At SEC Marketing Group, our clients aren’t just giving us their website URLs; they are giving us the keys to their digital front doors.
Security is not a “suggestion,” it is the baseline of our employment. This page outlines the non-negotiable standards for protecting our firm and our clients.
1. Zero Tolerance: No Outsourcing
We are a “closed-loop” agency. This is a primary selling point for our 15+ (soon 50!) clients. They hire us for our expertise.
- The Rule: No 3rd party subcontractors, “white-label” partners, or “shadow” freelancers are permitted to touch SEC Marketing Group projects.
- The Reason: When we outsource, we lose control over where client data goes, who has their passwords, and the quality of the work. If it has the SEC name on it, it must be produced by an SEC team member.
- The Consequence: Engaging an unapproved 3rd party to perform client work is a breach of trust and grounds for immediate termination.
2. Password & Credential Security
We handle hundreds of sensitive logins, all the way from Google Search Console to high-level WordPress Admin accounts.
The “No External Sharing” Mandate
- Never share a client password with anyone outside of the SEC Marketing Group internal team.
- Never send passwords via “temporary” channels like Text, Email, or (definitely not) social media DMs.
- Use the Work Log: As established in our “Source of Truth” protocols, all credentials must live in the encrypted client Work Log. If a client asks you to share their password with another one of their vendors, refer them to the Account Lead first. We do not hand out keys to the fortress without verification.
3. Confidentiality of Client Data
Our clients’ growth strategies, internal sales numbers, and proprietary lead lists are strictly confidential.
- Internal Use Only: Client data stays within our internal tools and Work Logs.
- The “Coffee Shop” Rule: If you are working in a public space, use a privacy screen or ensure your monitor is not visible to others. Never leave your laptop unlocked and unattended.
- Non-Disclosure: You are bound by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Discussing specific client strategies or internal SEC “secret sauce” with friends, family, or industry peers is a violation of that agreement.
4. Why This Protects You
Security isn’t just about the client; it’s about your professional integrity. By following these rules, you:
- Eliminate Liability: If a client site is compromised, our Work Logs and strict internal-only policy prove that the breach didn’t come from us.
- Ensure Quality: By doing the work ourselves, we ensure it meets the “Extra Mile” standard.
- Build a Career: High-level SEO requires high-level trust. Mastering these security protocols makes you an indispensable asset as we scale to 50+ clients.
The Bottom Line:
We are a team of pros. Pros don’t cut corners with security, and pros don’t hide their work behind 3rd party “factories.” We own the process, we own the data, and we own the results.
