What is the “Source of Truth”?
In SEO, we make hundreds of micro-adjustments—changing a meta tag here, updating a robot.txt file there, or building a backlink on a Tuesday morning. The Work Log is the definitive, chronological record of every single heartbeat of a client’s campaign.
It isn’t just a “to-do list” that’s been checked off; it is a forensic record of our value.
The “Immediate” Requirement
“I’ll log it at the end of the day” is a lie. By 5:00 PM, you will have forgotten the specific password you reset or the exact wording of the header you optimized.
- The Rule: You perform the action, then you log the action. Immediately. * The Reason: If you get called away, take a sick day, or win the lottery tomorrow, the next person stepping in must be able to pick up exactly where you left off without a single “What happened here?” phone call.
What Every Entry Must Include
A “good” entry is one that a teammate can understand six months from now without asking you a single question.

Security Note: Passwords
Never leave a password in an email or a text thread. Those are “temporary” channels. The Work Log is the permanent home for credentials. If you change a login for a client tool, WordPress admin, or hosting panel, it must be updated in the log before you close the tab.
